To include B in A-level Spanish (unless to be studied as a beginner).

Pass in Access qualification in a relevant subject with Merit in 50% of units at level 3.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

A minimum grade C or grade 4 pass in GCSE (or equivalent) English or Welsh is a requirement for entry to all our degree schemes. Level 3 KS/FS Communication may be acceptable in lieu of GCSE English or Welsh. For this degree scheme minimum grade C or grade 4 pass in GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics is also required. GCSE Mathematics-Numeracy is acceptable in lieu of GCSE Mathematics.

The BSc Tourism / Spanish will enable you to explore the exciting and dynamic tourism industry while improving your fluency in the Spanish language. The combination of Tourism Management and Spanish will open many opportunities post-graduation. As one of the most spoken languages in the world, Spanish and Tourism complement each other. Our Tourism and Spanish degree scheme is accredited by the Tourism Management Institute (TMI). This means that you can be confident the course will provide you with knowledge, understanding, skills and experience which will fully prepare them for a career in tourism destination management. A key feature of the degree scheme is that alongside classroom-based learning there are regular day and overnight field visits both in the UK and overseas which enable you to explore tourism in practice as part of the learning process.

Finally, a wide range of student assessments including the production of a business plan, web pages, field research, critical reviews, presentations and reflection develop your professional skills base and competence which are further complemented by the transferrable professional skills developed in other core modules.

It's often said there's a shortage of modern language graduates, and graduates from Spanish courses have a lot of options available to them when they complete their courses. In 2015, nearly 1300 UK graduates got degrees in Spanish and the subject is seeing its popularity increase. About one in five got jobs overseas — often as English teachers. If you want to put your degree to work in the UK, teacher training is a common option, and businesses see Spanish-speaking countries as important markets, leading to graduate opportunities in marketing, human resources, sales and project management. But remember — whilst employers say they rate graduates who have more than one language, you need to have them as part of a whole package of good skills.

This course sits in a wide group of smaller subjects that don't necessarily have that much in common - so bear this in mind when you look at any employment data. Most graduates took a hospitality, events management or tourism-related course, but there are a group of sports and leisure graduates in here as well who do different things. Events management was the most common job for graduates from this group of subjects, and so it’s no surprise that graduates from specialist events management courses did better last year than many of the other graduates under this subject umbrella - but all did about as well as graduates on average or a little better.
