Choosing a university [video]

Not sure which university course to choose? To help you get inspired, our video reporter headed to a sixth form college to ask university applicants how they made their choices…

Are you considering the same factors in your decision as these students?

Watch now: Choosing a university

Which university is right for you?

Here are a few more pointers to help you find the best university for you:
  • The course itself should always be your top priority when deciding on a university. Dig into the course detail - do the modules cover topics that really interest you? Do the teaching and assessment styles suit you, too?
  • Think about what the university has to offer in terms of boosting your career prospects. Can you do a sandwich or placement year? What are the connections with your future industry like? What kind of jobs do graduates on the course typically go into?
  • Determining where you want to live is another way to narrow down your options. Do you want to stay close enough to home to be able to pop back at weekends, or fancy venturing a bit further afield? Keen on a big, buzzing city or think you'd prefer a small, tight-knit student community?

Our guide to choosing the perfect uni city can help you find that 'home away from home'.

Once you've got your list of possibles, the best way to decide if a university is right for you is to head to an open day

Thanks to students and staff at Havant Sixth Form College for taking part in the video.
