What is an MLaw course?
An MLaw is an integrated Masters course. It typically last for four years of full-time study, during which time you'll study LLB (Bachelor of Laws) content as well as working towards your Masters.
In the case of The University of Law's MLaw (Solicitors’ Practice) course, the first three years are spent studying LLB modules, covering what you'll need to know for the SQE1 assessment (you can find out more about the SQE route to qualifying as a solicitor in our article).
In years three and four, the focus sharpens onto the knowledge and skills needed to sit SQE1 and SQE2 assessments, with those exams taken during year 4.
Is MLaw the right course?
As you can see, an MLaw course is intended for people who have a specific legal career in mind at the end of their studies.
However, if you opt for the MLaw course and change your mind at the end of either year one or two, you are able to transfer your studies onto a standard LLB course. So there is still the flexibility to move around if you need to.
