Why do you want to study this course or subject?

In my opinion, Business and the gift of education has the potential to make one's life a success. Through hard work and determination, education can develop oneself and develop the ability to learn the fundamental skills required to be successful in the Business world. This is my primary motivation for taking a degree in Business. As a hard working and dedicated student, I believe that I have the potential to push myself to develop my business knowledge all round and have the chance to give back what I learnt to our future generations as a Business Teacher upon graduation. To me, an individual in Business has the power to improve lives internationally, this is something I hope to give back as inspiration similar to that of my inspiration to progress to Higher Education and take a degree in Business.

How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?

Through my studies, I have developed skills that I believe are essential for a degree in Business. Religious Studies allowed me to develop exceptional analytical skills with the ability to think 'outside the box', a skill that I believe is essential for Business since the world of Business is ever changing, every possibility has to be considered.

Through English Combined, I have developed outstanding oral and written communication skills; I believe that in Business, particularly in Advertising and Marketing, having excellent written and oral communication skills are crucial as to how one sells the business or particular product or service to the public. In addition, it is also essential in areas such as Accounting, particularly in Account Management having the ability to analyse and communicate to other people in the business as to how Accounting in the business can be improved is essential in areas such as managing financial information.

I was first introduced to the Business world through Applied Business. Throughout a range of portfolios and examinations, I have learnt about a range of Business areas, such as Marketing, Accounting and Finance, and Business Economics to make me an all-round knowledgeable Business student. One element of Business that interests me is Management, whether this is Marketing Management and having the ability to oversee all elements of a Marketing campaign for both local businesses and international companies, or Accounts Management and learning about managing financial information for a business and people.

What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?

For over two years, I have worked in the Hospitality industry as a Crew Trainer at McDonald's. As a Crew Trainer, one of my main duties is to regularly cash up tills on shift accurately to ensure that sales forecasts remain accurate, this often means handling thousands of pounds per shift and making sure that all information is accurately recorded for further accounting duties. Throughout my gap year, I believe that I can bring the skills I have learnt and developed practically in the Business world, to develop my skills theoretically at University to further enhance my career opportunities upon graduation and make the most out of my studies.

My passion for Business has led me to participate in a range of Business related extra curriculum activities. For instance, I participated in an Events Management competition at college where I was delegated the responsibility of Project Manager. I had to manage our budget and decide what finances were to be distributed to areas of the Business plan, I had to crucially ensure that we did not go over budget anywhere to ensure that profit maximisation could be achieved and more would be raised for the charitable cause because costs were kept to a minimum.

AI generated feedback

This feedback is AI-generated, based on the text of this personal statement:

This personal statement effectively expresses a clear motivation for studying Business, highlighting the applicant's passion and career aspirations. It provides solid examples from academic studies and work experience, showing relevant skills like analytical thinking, communication, and financial management. For improvement, the statement could benefit from tighter structure and more detailed reflection about how each experience specifically relates to the chosen course. Adding more personal insights and explaining how challenges were overcome could strengthen the narrative. Additionally, reducing minor grammatical errors and polishing phrasing would improve readability and impact in line with best practices for the new UCAS personal statement format.

How personal statements have changed?
