Ever since I started my study of science, I have sought after a career that combines my passion with my willingness to help others. This has led to me to a career choice in Pharmacy. My interest in pharmacy has led me to do wider reading including Locum Pharmacy: A Survival Guide by Pamela Mason and BMA New Guide to Medicine and Drugs 8th Edition. I am a hard-working, determined individual and I believe that I will easily be able to portray this in university life and in the prospect of my pharmaceutical career.
In the process of my educational advancements, I have obtained and developed a number of key skills that will be of essential use in my desired career. Studying Psychology has helped me improve my essay writing and presentation skills, which will benefit me in my degree. My level of keenness for Chemistry and Biology has been exponential, having incentive interest in practical assignments.
I have arranged a 1 week placement of work experience at a local pharmacy in October as well as another in Christmas at a similar establishment. During these placements I anticipate to develop greater communication skills and a further understanding of the roles and day to day challenges faced by pharmacists.
I participate in many extra-curricular activities, including football where I represented my high school, and table tennis which I play in my college. I use my creative side to invent new aspects of current sports, for example 'Target tennis', where the aim is to place a 'target' on the ping pong table and try to hit it whilst maintaining a rally. I am also an official representative of the MCUK charity foundation. Throughout the summer I took part in various events such as the weekly summer school where I organized events for the children. This role developed my leadership as well as my team working skills. Another event I played a part in was feeding the homeless. This weekly event took place in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan in the Piccadilly Gardens, town centre. This boosted my self esteem and interpersonal ability. In addition, I am also doing a 10.5 mile walk to raise money for winter packs for the homeless and elderly. This shows that I am a hard-working and keen individual. I am also fond of cooking which I have integrated in my charity work where I raised money for the 'Toy Appeal' by selling home-made food which funded Christmas presents for underprivileged children. Along with my charity work, I thoroughly enjoy discovering new places and cultures; for instance I have travelled to numerous states in America as well as Canada and France. I have also been to Saudi Arabia on an Islamic pilgrimage, which increased my religious understanding and spiritual belief.
This feedback is AI-generated, based on the text of this personal statement:
This personal statement clearly expresses genuine motivation for studying Pharmacy and includes relevant wider reading, which is a strong point. The articulation of skills gained particularly from Psychology, Chemistry, and Biology is good, showing preparation for the course demands. To enhance the statement further, the applicant could benefit from more detailed reflections on what was learned during the pharmacy placements once completed, and how precisely extra-curricular activities contribute transferable skills for university study and a pharmacy career. Additionally, correcting minor grammatical issues and improving sentence flow would raise overall professionalism while keeping the authentic voice intact. Emphasising unique experiences and linking them directly to the course requirements will strengthen the impact for 2026 UCAS personal statements.
The current personal statement format, with three 'scaffolding' questions, was introduced by Ucas in September 2025.
