Why do you want to study this course or subject?

Why do I want to go on to higher education? Well ever since I started the AVCE Travel & Tourism course I have gained interest in the tourism industry, and I have come to notice that there are mass opportunities in the market, which has yet to be exploited, and I in the future want to do exactly that.

I'm very business minded and I have many ideas, which I can expand on in the future. But before I do so I want to be more knowledgeable about the travel and tourism industry, because if I do go into this field of work then I want to know what type of characteristics I need to build on in order to be successful in what ever I do in the future.

What I've learnt from life so far is people come and go, opportunities come and go and what I've always maintained is faith and belief and so long as I have that I can go very far in life and never look back and think to myself do I need to go back? And I believe that I have every potential to grab opportunities as they come as I've seen time does not wait for you, you have to wait for the right time to come. And its time to move on to bigger and better things which life is kindly offering.

Tourism has made me keen in broadening my knowledge and given the chance I will do so with full dedication, determination and continuous persistence as I am a motivated, sophisticated and charismatic individual who believes in you only get one chance to make a first impression and my recognition would be by accomplishing my objective which is to obtain a degree in Tourism and make myself realise that I have worked towards my potential which thus will be the basis of my success in the future.

How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?

What I have acquired from this AVCE Travel & Tourism course is organisational and leadership qualities, this is because for one of our units 'Event Management' we as a group of 5 had to organise a poster competition using KS2 children, as they individually had to create posters around the theme of the Docklands.

What this experience enabled me to do is make critical/contingent decisions; analytically, this was because I was very observant and analysed situations and would quickly come to a conclusion/judgement because I have an eye for detail and I wanted everything well organised so that we would be able to manage the event more effectively and efficiently and we did.

What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?

And during my two-week block of work experience at the Tower of London I've learnt to be more responsible this was because I was acting as a stand-in tour guide to teachers and children from various schools within the borough of Tower Hamlets. My basic duty was to take them in and around the Tower with an assigned partner and make sure that any questions asked were answered in detail.

Apart from studying I am a very family orientated person, I always put my family first. I have a keen interest in Football and also regularly go to the gym; I also enjoy spending time with friends and enjoy listening to music.

AI generated feedback

This feedback is AI-generated, based on the text of this personal statement:

This personal statement shows strong motivation and enthusiasm for the travel and tourism industry, with clear insight into the applicant's personal values and aspirations. The inclusion of specific experiences such as event management and work experience at the Tower of London strengthens the statement by demonstrating relevant skills and responsibility. To improve, the applicant could clarify and expand on how their qualifications have prepared them academically, perhaps detailing key topics or projects from the AVCE course. Also, consider tightening some of the phrasing and correcting informal expressions to enhance professionalism while retaining the authentic voice. More detail on how outside interests (e.g., football, gym) have contributed transferable skills would add depth. Overall, an engaging personal statement well suited for the new UCAS format.

How personal statements have changed?

The current personal statement format, with three 'scaffolding' questions, was introduced by Ucas in September 2025. This personal statement was submitted before then, using the old essay-style format. It has been carefully edited into the three-question format, with all of the original wording kept.
