Therapeutic imaging

Radiographers are at the forefront of healthcare. 95% of the population will have interacted with a diagnostic radiographer who undertake medical imaging for diagnoses using specialised technical equipment such as x-ray, CT scanning, MRI scanning, Nuclear medicin and Ultrasound. 1 in 2 of the population will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and of these up to a 1/3rd will receive radiotherapy which is a technical but empathetic profession using high energy x-rays to treat tumours.

The purpose of the course is to produce radiographers who are self-aware, skilled, critical, analytical, reflective, evaluative, empathetic and independent learners who practically contribute to shaping the future health and wellbeing of individuals and society. Graduates will develop the ability to synthesise evidence from current practice and research to develop an in-depth critical knowledge and understanding of the diagnostic or therapeutic profession. They will be able to demonstrate a critical awareness of current issues within the provision of health and social care and will be capable of demonstrating leadership in both personal and professional development.

Year 2 - Professional Practice and Wellbeing, Planning and Dosimetry, Radiographic Anatomy, Research Methods, Oncology 2, Healthcare Policy and Quality Management, Further Radiobiology.
