Subject

Business studies

BSc Business is a highly flexible course designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of business management, while providing you with a range of practical skills to enable you to succeed in the workplace.

This business degree takes an interdisciplinary approach to the subject, offering you an innovative way of learning about topics that cannot be pigeonholed into one particular area.

You will develop:

- analytical skills that will enable you to critically appraise and challenge existing managerial or business practices

- an understanding of how decisions are made in organisations

- quantitative skills that can be applied in the analysis of management and accounting problems

- communication and interpersonal skills.

Birkbeck has a diverse student community, which creates a stimulating and supportive learning environment. You will interact with peers, many of whom will have come from directly relevant jobs, possessing a broad range of experience, to develop a more detailed and nuanced insight into business.

Teaching on this BSc Business is flexible to respond to the needs of our students. Birkbeck is known for its evening teaching. From autumn 2024, this programme has the option of daytime or evening study.

If you opt for the Foundation Year route, this will fully prepare you for undergraduate study. It is ideal if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied the relevant subjects, or if you didn't achieve the grades you need for a place on your chosen undergraduate degree.
