What this course is about

UCAS code: S64F

Here's what Cardiff Metropolitan University says about its Sport and Physical Education (with Sport Foundation Year) course.

This is a four-year programme that includes a year of foundational study at our Cyncoed campus. Our foundation year offers the chance to strengthen your skills, knowledge and confidence, before you advance to stage one of your honours degree.

The BSc (Hons) Sport and Physical Education degree programme at Cardiff Met provides a practically based course focusing on current and future developments in the sector.

The degree in Sport and PE values and challenges students within a supportive learning environment and provides opportunities to access, understand and apply research in the enhancement of innovative practice and to understand the future role of physical educators.

The Sport and PE degree provides access to a research-informed contemporary curriculum that recognises the contribution sport plays within physical education in the development of lifelong health and wellbeing through activity.

Students will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge using our world-class on-site facilities, or through work-based learning; whether that be on a placement or through our Open Campus initiative.

The degree is delivered and managed by academics with a wealth of research, innovation and applied experience. It has been designed in an inspiring and progressive way, in which the curriculum becomes more focused and specialised across the three years of study.

Alongside the degree students have the opportunity to complete professionally recognised qualifications and engage with further diverse learning experiences, all of which enhance and enrich the time students have with us at Cardiff Met. The degree programme encourages students to embrace all the opportunities that are available to them to develop academically, personally, and professionally.

The university is great at acknowledging financial difficulties with a variety of support available. For example, free breakfast. In addition, the university offers a Met-Rider Bus Pass, which is u00a3200 for the year, which helps to save a lot of money. But this year they offered it for u00a3100 to...

University accommodation is excellent but is only available for the first year. There are wardens available 24 hours a day if there is anything you may need in an emergency and cleaners who come once a week. The libraries are okay. They are quite small, but there are plenty of places outside the lib...

I feel it is a very unique course that you are unlikely to find at another university. If you aspire to work and support those with special needs or vulnerable backgrounds, it's a great course that allows you in the second year to explore topic areas more in your internet areas.
