Here's what Cornwall College says about its Art & Design Practice course.
The FdA Art & Design Practice is a radical and innovative interdisciplinary programme. It reflects the direction the creative industries are taking by encouraging the blurring of boundaries between traditional art and design disciplines.
The freedom of the flexible curriculum allows you to nurture your creative potential and direct your study to achieve the skills and unique personal portfolio you need to enter the workplace.
You will have dedicated studio workspace and access to a wide range of purpose-built workshops and digital facilities. These include textiles, photography, print, fine art, ceramics, furniture, graphic design, animation and multimedia with full technical support.
A key feature of the programme is its engagement with a variety of employers through live briefs and input into the course by industry specialists.
Through ongoing professional development, the programme will build your confidence as you develop and evaluate an individual programme of study. You will learn to balance time and resources and identify opportunities which will be important skills for your chosen career.
Work-based learning is embedded throughout, through the Sustainable Practice and Creative Enterprise initiative which acts as a forum to bring together students and creative industry representatives to work on live projects.
We also offer the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, the perfect preparation for university-level study in the field of contemporary creative arts.
We operate industry-standard workshops with the latest equipment and expertise. Our interdisciplinary approach allows you to keep an open mind about materials and methods, and to develop your own specialist skills within specific art and design specialisms: creating a unique approach to your own practice. You will be allocated your own studio space in our dedicated arts centre.
We offer a variety of study destination visits including London, New York and the Venice Biennale.
