What this course is about

UCAS code: C121

Here's what Edinburgh Napier University says about its Biological Science course.

Develop your knowledge and research skills in a variety of biological sciences and specialise in areas which interest you the most.

Our course provides you with a broad understanding of biological sciences including biomedical sciences, microbiology, animal and marine biology and immunology. The Biological Sciences degree allows tailored learning to your individual interests. There will therefore be some aspects that are similar to the other degree structures, but allowing flexibility.

You'll benefit from studying in Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside which is rich in biodiversity, and visit local sites of outstanding natural beauty and special scientific interest.

You’ll develop biological skills relevant to your chosen area, such as good laboratory practice, competence in microbiological techniques and field surveying.

In second year, students do have the option of undertaking 'Volunteering and Employability'. This can include an element of work placement.

This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.

I've never had an issue so far with the student union but I have heard good things

University life

My studies are covered which is great, I wouldn't be here without it. Of course it's hard to travel in each day but it's cheaper than living closer to uni.

Feedback on work is always respectful to me even when saying what I haven't done right or need to work on. They always provide helpful insights such as going over assignments briefs with us

(5)
Support

I like the different levels of the libraries/quiet spaces. Toilets are always extremely clean. I don't live in uni accommodation so have nothing to say on that

Facilities

The course works well. The modules are very helpful at getting an overview and the timing of lectures each week don't feel like they're rushing through or going to slow. Tutorials are helpful when people decide to talk
