Engage with the future of festivals as part of this new and cutting-edge course, created with the Eden Project. You’ll learn how to manage successful festivals, working at the forefront of technology and sustainability, while collaborating with one of the UK’s leading festival venues.

Studying in Cornwall, home to several of the UK’s most exciting festivals, you’ll get hands-on industry experience, both here and further afield. Alongside tuition from experienced professionals, you’ll benefit from the expertise within our School of Entrepreneurship – including finance, marketing and project management.

You will:
Develop a sustainable approach to management in the globally expanding festival industry.
Study on one of the first courses in the world accredited by A Greener Festival.
Organise live events and engage with industry experts.
Be industry-ready with a full degree in just two years.
Benefit from the expertise and knowledge of specialist staff with music, events, hospitality, technical and entrepreneurial backgrounds.
Undertake multiple micro-placements, at the Eden Sessions and other locations.
Be part of a course in the hospitality, event management and tourism sector where

Modules

Focusing on sustainable management and leadership, you’ll develop sector-specific knowledge and transferable skills in areas like finance, law, marketing and digital media. We’ll use real-world scenarios to build your problem solving and cooperative learning skills, helping you take action in a group and as a leader.

Year one:
You’ll learn creative and innovative approaches to festival event management, gain a firm grounding in planning and management processes, and develop skills in marketing, managing resources and engaging with clients. On top of this, you’ll develop teamwork and presentational skills, hear from industry speakers, attend field trips and deliver three assessed team projects.

Year two:
Developing your peer and self-evaluation skills, you’ll consider leadership, crisis management and sustainability in the festival industry. Using audience insights, you’ll deliver three more live team projects, and connect with industry both on- and off-campus, building valuable relationships to help launch your career. By the end of your final year you’ll have the confidence and skills to develop a business plan.

This course sits in a wide group of smaller subjects that don't necessarily have that much in common - so bear this in mind when you look at any employment data. Most graduates took a hospitality, events management or tourism-related course, but there are a group of sports and leisure graduates in here as well who do different things. Events management was the most common job for graduates from this group of subjects, and so it’s no surprise that graduates from specialist events management courses did better last year than many of the other graduates under this subject umbrella - but all did about as well as graduates on average or a little better.
