**This course is primarily designed for face to face learning with you attending your lessons for the specified hours within the validation document. However, there may be periods of study where the government advises TEC Partnership that it is not safe to open campuses or there is limited access due to social distancing measures. If the Campus is closed TEC Partnership will continue to deliver your sessions online and offer you the necessary support and resources remotely. If there is limited access due to social distancing measures a blended model will be adopted with some lessons happening in small groups and others happening using online sessions and support.**

Business Management with Accounting is designed to equip students with an in-depth understanding and knowledge of accounting in business. Students will study some common modules on this pathway but will also study specialised accounting modules. It will provide students with an overview of accounting that will enable them to pursue a career in accounting in a variety of differing accounting roles and is aligned to professional accounting qualifications. In addition to the specialised accountancy modules, in the final year students will have the opportunity to choose to complete a dissertation or a small business plan as their level 6 project - the dissertation offering a more traditional route for a student who wishes to research a particular business area of interest, or the small business plan, which will enable those students wishing to start their own business to develop the skills necessary.

Inherent within the programmes is the theme of enterprise with an emphasis on employability, ensuring the student progresses through the modules developing and gathering skills that will enable them to graduate and move onto further education, employment, graduate schemes or self-employment.Personal development and self-management is also a common thread throughout the programme in order to allow students to develop in confidence and capability, accruing a range of transferable skills applicable to both private and public sectors and including business related professions such as accountancy, personnel, consultancy, business start-up, marketing and administration.

Modules

At Level 4, students gain the introductory skills and knowledge essential for academic and professional achievement, with the following obligatory modules:
• Business Environment
• Business Research and Study Skills
• Organisational Behaviour
• Enterprise Project
• Financial Accounting
• Customer Focus and Marketing

The academic focus at level 4 is on research for writing, using data and analysing statistics, relevant academic theory and an introduction to critical business subject areas.
At Level 5, students build upon these level 4 skills and general knowledge and understanding to expand their aptitude to learn through practical research and student-led discussion. In order to specialise in, develop an in-depth understanding and practical application of business and theory students critically examine business theory and apply this to real organisations. Obligatory modules are:
• Managing the Self
• Career Planning and Progression
• Research Methods
• Management Accounting
• Operations and Strategic Management
• Financial Accounting for Limited Companies
At Level 6, the modules will enable application of knowledge and understanding. Building on previous years’ modules, students will be able to critically evaluate, problem solve and synthesise what has been researched, taught and learnt in order to assess and critique effectively the impact of business theory on business practice. The final focus for students is the choice of a dissertation element or small business plan, encapsulating the learned content across a significant themed project.

• Global Economics and the Policy Environment or Business Analysis (option of 1)
• Sustainability for Business
• Financial Auditing
• Dissertation (part 2) or Small Business Plan (part 2) (option of 1)

Assessment methods

The assessment approach is intended to ensure the student’s breadth and depth of knowledge is tested, aiding and enhancing understanding of the subject of Business and Management. The assessment methods combine traditional and innovative formats, practical in application and incorporating opportunities for formative assessment and feedback to ensure students are able to achieve module outcomes effectively.
