Course

the timetable is not busy at all. all of our lesson are within 9am - 5pm. and the longest lecture is 3 hours long, however it rarely goes on for that long. most lessons end up finishing before the scheduled time as all the relevant content has been covered. there are formative assessments which are essentially mocks, and then summative exams which are the actual exams you need to pass. the quality of teaching is overall pretty good, with the odd dry lecture which cant even be helped with a good lecturer. the examinations involve multiple choice exams, as well as presentations and essays, which are all formative and summative.

Finances

the university of hull offered certain people lots of incentives if we booked our accommodation within 2 weeks of receiving an offer. HYMS also gave bursaries to students with a low income as well as the chance to win an extra scholarship after a competition. there is also a spar oncampus which is convenient for quick shopping. the various restaurants around campus are also relatively cheap to get food. the university regularly sends out financial help guides.

Support

my personal tutor is so helpful and knowledgable about everything and teaches and advises well. he also guided me to student support when i had personal issues, which was only good to advise me on my next step. however it was nice to hear what i should do. we are also given various module leads and other contacts to know who to contact for various issues.

Facilities

i live on the hull campus in westfield court. it’s right next to medical building which is very convenient. the library is right next to the medical building so everything is within a short walking distance. the library is really big and has plenty of seating available. it has bookable desks and bookable group rooms. all floors have computer seats and normal desks available. the view is really nice too.
