Our Foundation Year provides an excellent alternative route to Keele, providing a unique opportunity to better prepare for your chosen degree, and with guaranteed entry onto your undergraduate course once you successfully complete your Foundation Year. This extra year of study can improve your academic skills, expand your subject knowledge, give you a better understanding of higher education and, perhaps most importantly of all, build your confidence. On the Keele Foundation Year, you'll study on campus, joining our undergraduate community from the outset, with access to all the facilities and support that you'd get as an undergraduate student at Keele.

**International Students**
For International Students, Foundation Years are delivered through our dedicated on-campus provider, Keele University International College. **Forensic Science**

Analyse the science behind a crime scene to identify and present admissible forensic evidence to uphold justice and make a difference in people's lives. From gathering evidential traces at a crime scene to analysing DNA, you will develop the knowledge, analytical skills, methods and techniques to enter a rewarding science-based career in a variety of sectors.

**Why choose this course?**

- No.1 in England for Forensic Science (Complete University Guide, 2022)

- Use a wide variety of industry-standard instrumentation in Keele's state-of-the-art Central Science Laboratories

- This programme is accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences

- Develop your practical and professional skills in our indoor and outdoor crime scene facilities

Forensic science is a critical element of the criminal justice system. As criminals continue to use ever advancing tools and techniques to commit crime, the field of forensics is integral in producing scientific evidence for use in courts of law to support the prosecution or defence in criminal and civil investigations.

Our Forensic Science BSc is an interdisciplinary applied science course that focuses on the entire forensic process, from evidence collection, analysis and interpretation to court reporting. The core curriculum includes key topics in forensic chemistry, forensic biology and criminalistic science. Throughout your studies you will develop an understanding of continuity of evidence and how the crime scene, the laboratory and the court contribute to the forensic and legal process. You'll also explore specialist branches of forensic science, including anthropology, fire investigation and toxicology.
