Course summary

What this course is about

UCAS code: B740

Here's what Keele University says about its Nursing (Adult) course.

Passionate about wanting to make a difference to people’s lives? Looking for a rewarding career that offers diverse opportunities? Your future in adult nursing starts here. On our Nursing (Adult) BSc you'll gain essential nursing knowledge and authentic clinical practice experience in our fantastic clinical simulation facilities and placement settings, enabling you to qualify as a competent and confident adult nurse.

Why choose this course?

  • Top 10 in the UK for Nursing (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, 2026)

  • Nursing and Midwifery Council approved programme

  • Top 10 in England for Nursing and Midwifery (Daily Mail University Guide, 2026)

  • Nursing and Midwifery No.1 in the West Midlands (Complete University Guide, 2026)

Our programme places the patient at the centre of care delivery. You will grow into a nurse who can assess and manage the changing and complex needs of individuals, at what could be one of the most challenging times in their lives.

Adult nurses care for individuals with diverse healthcare needs. From empowering patients with long-term conditions to working in a fast-paced clinical setting to support patients with acute illness, nurses can have a critical influence on patient outcomes.

Our curriculum is designed to provide you with the theoretical knowledge required to be able to practice confidently and competently. It also gives you the opportunity to develop and refine your clinical skills in a safe and controlled setting before going onto clinical placement.

Your first year will concentrate on meeting people’s care needs. Years two and three will develop your capabilities to evaluate, provide and manage the care needs of individuals and groups of people.

We believe a multidisciplinary approach to teaching is the key to developing tomorrow’s global health care workforce. You will benefit from inter-professional education by learning alongside other aspiring healthcare professionals such as medical students and pharmacy students. This exposure allows you to appreciate the role that each healthcare professional plays in every patient's journey - a critical factor for success within the clinical setting.

*About Keele * Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University. Founded to meet the needs of a changing world, Keele has always had a pioneering vision to be a different kind of university.

We excel in both teaching and research, with some of the most satisfied students in England, and research that is changing lives for the better at a regional, national and global level.

Our beautiful 600-acre campus is one of the biggest in Britain – but all the most important services and facilities are on your doorstep, with accommodation, teaching spaces, facilities including a medical centre, sports centre and pharmacy, and a range of shops, eateries and entertainment venues – including the Students’ Union – clustered around the centre.
