Here's what King's College London says about its Pharmacy course.

Pharmacists’ role within healthcare teams is more important than ever. At King’s, you’ll become an expert on medicines and the law, keeping people safe – and preventing harm and death connected to medication.

Our Pharmacy MPharm is a fully-accredited four-year pharmacy degree, based in the heart of London, that combines the study of pharmaceutical science with the practice of pharmacy. As experts in medicines, pharmacists are taking on increasingly important roles in modern healthcare teams, as well as enjoying exciting career options in diverse health settings, from hospitals and community pharmacy to working in GP practices, care homes and the pharmaceutical industry. Our course will allow you to join this profession, as the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) is the only UK qualification that leads to professional registration as a pharmacist.

New standards from the Initial Education and Training for pharmacy standards were introduced by the General Pharmaceutical Council in 2021, which will enable all pharmacists to prescribe at the point of registration. Our programme was reaccredited for 6 years against the new standards in February 2025 with no conditions or recommendations.

Key benefits

  • We are ranked 5th in the UK for our MPharm programme (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025).

  • Boost your career prospects with international research exchanges and placements in leading clinical environments.

  • Benefit from clinical placements at our partner NHS Foundation Trusts: Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital and the South London and Maudsley.

  • Learn from world-renowned scientists, researchers and pharmacy practitioners.

  • Develop your diagnostic, patient education and consultation skills in our consultation and simulations suite and recently refurbished clinical skills training centre

  • The MPharm degree is the only qualification that leads to professional registration as a pharmacist.
