How you will be assessed

You will experience a wide range of assessment methods at LMA which are focused around your practical development as a well rounded Musical Theatre Performer. These include practical demonstrations of your acting, vocal and dance skills and techniques, both individually and as part of an ensemble. Practical exercises and briefs are also included which assess your creative ability to improvise and develop characters and roles.

In the creative production and performance modules you are given the opportunity to take part in live and staged productions where you are assessed on both the development of the production, and also your final performance. In your final year, Musical Theatre students are assessed both individually via the "Showcase" modules which allows you to demonstrate your proficiency and creativity as a solo performer, and also as a group performer via the "Major Performance" module .

Assessed journals and planning exercises are also used which enable you to reflect and analyse your skills and identify ways they can develop. In some modules, continuous tutor/student assessment is also employed in order to evaluate your journey through the module.

In addition, in the modules where you investigate the performance industry and your role within it, you will again experience a variety of assessment methods such as poster presentations, comparative reviews of different performances, and investigative essays and reports.
