Course summary

What this course is about

UCAS code: H742

Here's what Manchester Metropolitan University says about its Biomedical Engineering with Foundation Year course.

All of our engineering degrees provide project-based learning, helping you to develop the transferable skills and the multidisciplinary awareness so highly prized by industry. The Department of Engineering actively works with professional engineering institutions and encourages its students to engage with them.

The foundation year provides a route onto an engineering degree if you don't have the qualifications or have not studied advanced level subjects sufficiently related to your course of choice.

After successful completion of the foundation year in engineering, you can progress on to the relevant BEng (Hons) / BSc (Hons) degree:

Whichever route you take, you’ll have the skills and understanding you need to get started on your engineering career.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

  • Provides a route onto your chosen degree course if you don't currently meet the entry requirements.

  • Foundation years are designed to make undergraduate degrees more accessible to those who are under-represented in higher education, for example, those with non-traditional qualifications.

  • Has content that is tailored so that it is appropriate to your chosen degree.

  • Helps you to develop the study skills and academic knowledge you will need to start Year 1 of your course with confidence.

  • You will be eligible to apply for student finance in the same way as other undergraduates.

  • We’ve invested over £115 million to transform the way we teach and the way our students learn. The new Dalton building is equipped with dynamic learning spaces, world-class teaching and research facilities and collaborative study zones. This means you’ll graduate with the skills and experiences employers look for.
