Music production

An innovative, industry focused degree that provides students with the opportunity to develop and apply cutting edge electronic music production skills in the creation of a wide range of portfolio work.

Students will gain significant insight into a wide variety of electronic music production techniques, disciplines and methodologies. Using these procedures, students will be encouraged to develop their own unique method of working and personal style. The wide range of disciplines involved in electronic music production allows students to progress towards potential careers in composition, sound design, production, recording, engineering, live performance, music for visual media, music journalism and sonic arts practice.

To prepare students for a career in the music industries, the course focuses on current revenue streams and contemporary developments in this area, along with idea generation, workflow and project management skills, which enable students to be productive with their skills. Various opportunities to meet and learn from industry professionals are incorporated, including practitioners from creative, technical and professional specialisms.

All dBs Music centres are based on the principles of providing the very best, boasting fully equipped studios, huge live rooms, Foley studios, Surround Sound suites and lecture theatre/screening rooms. Whether it’s classic mixing desks, extensive microphone collection, latest plugins; MIDI controllers including Ableton Push suites, or our mountain of synths and effects students are guaranteed to get hands on practical experience on the very best industry standard gear.
