Course summary

What this course is about

UCAS code: L700

Here's what Queen Mary University of London says about its Geography course.

Learn what it takes to manage the complex social and environmental processes impacting our fragile world.

Sustainable development. International migration. Environmental justice. Geography is all about responding to the world’s most pressing challenges. Joining us, you’ll study modules informed by our research that present a truly global picture. Our academics influence international climate policy and big changes like the UK Living Wage Campaign.

Looking at the impact on communities is vital too. Our recent guest speakers have included the Tower Hamlets Council public health team who shared their experience of community health promotion, as well as leaders from Latin America who spoke about political change.

Modules featuring fieldwork

We make the most of our London location with day trips around the city on many modules. Maybe you’ll head to Spitalfields market to examine urban consumption cultures. Or perhaps visit Walthamstow wetlands to see water engineering in action. Travelling to places like Boston and Belfast, you’ll also meet climate change activists and tech entrepreneurs.

We have a dedicated geography careers consultant who will help you boost your employability. Our graduates secure jobs at influential organisations such as Ordnance Survey, WWF and the UK Environment Agency. Environmental consultant, geographical information systems specialist, risk management officer – your degree in geography could take you in many different directions.

This programme is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers).
