Many of the world's most pressing issues such as global warming/climate change, underdevelopment, rising inequality, inflation and financial instability are economic in nature. In understanding these problems, economists make use of a wide variety of analytical techniques borrowed from numerous other fields including history, philosophy, mathematics and statistics.
