I feel like I've taken a step back in my knowledge of using filming equipment over this uni course compared to the course I took before. We had 3 lectures, one has left the uni after a complaint of poor student care and sexist comments. One (the best tutor in terms of helpfulness and easiest to talk to) is away recovering from a heart attack. Obviously we all want her to get better before coming back but this leaves us with the last lecturer who only works two days a week. We can't contact them, even via email, if we need any help during those days off.

Accommodation

final year; live with partner in a rented flat 20 minutes away by bus. Flat is in a nice (fairly posh) village area of London. His friends live within 20 minutes away, mine live on the outskirts of London. Only train link so we either have to use that to get to central London, or get the same bus to uni and get the tube there

Course

My course has covered a variety of topics in great detail, but you are still expected to do a lot of your own research and put the practice in. The lecturers are easy to talk to, although aren't always in the course room because they all work part time. Feedback is guaranteed within 3 weeks of submission, but we also have formative assessments roughly half way through the unit to get feedback from them and other course members. We then have summative assessments at the end of the unit to get feedback on our finished products. There is a huge emphasis on working in the industry and preparing for it. We often have guest lecturers that work in industry and give us good advice about how to get into it.
