Applicants need a genuine interest and passion for the subject and be able to demonstrate this articulately, along with motivation, confidence and creativity. Mature applicants with extensive work experience and/or a range of professional qualifications in their work sector will be considered on an individual basis. References, alternative experience and skills will all be taken into account.

About this course
**About This Course**
Developed with guidance from industry professionals, and validated by the University of Hull, BA (Hons) Performance in Practice (Top-up) offers an intensive training to prepare you for entry into the Performing Arts Industry as an actor/performer. You will explore, experiment with, develop, and refine the practitioner skills required to succeed as a creative artist alongside the professional practice skills necessary to maintain and develop a career in the Performing Arts.
During the year you will work on a range of performance projects where you will be encouraged to experiment and explore your own creative voice and create work in a twenty-first century context for a contemporary audience. Specific focus will be given to building a skillset to develop and produce your own work both as individuals and as part of a theatre company, as well as pursue work in already established performance companies. You will learn how to build a substantial professional portfolio and entrepreneurial skillset, develop a professional CV and online presence, develop knowledge of the performing arts business, set up your own theatre company and build industry contacts to kick-start your career.

**Entry Requirements**
- Applicants are required to have a level five qualification in an appropriate subject, such as a foundation degree or equivalent in Performing Arts, Drama, Musical Theatre, Theatre Production, or an associated subject.
- GCSE English Language at grade C/4 or above or an equivalent (i.e. Level 2 Functional Skills).
- A successful audition and interview for which applicants should prepare two contrasting speeches and a song as follows:
a. A contemporary speech (post-1990), which should be no longer than three minutes.
b. A speech by Shakespeare or another Elizabethan or Jacobean playwright which should be no longer than three minutes.
c. A song of any genre of no more than three minutes.
- If first language is not English and GCSE grade C / 4 English or equivalent is not held, English language proficiency level such as International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 6.0 overall (with a minimum 5.5 in each skill) will need evidencing.
- Mature applicants with extensive work experience and/or a range of professional qualifications in their work sector will be considered on an individual basis. References, alternative experience and skills will all be taken into account.
**Assessment**
Performances, workshops, practical production, course work, reflective evaluations, and presentations.

**Additional Costs**
Additional costs may include the purchase of books writing materials and clothing suitable for as well as visits the theatres and other performing arts related organisations It is estimated that these additional costs would not exceed £600 per year.
