Here's what Sheffield College says about its Sport and Exercise Coaching course.
Interested in pursuing a career in the sport or exercise industry? The Foundation Degree in Sport & Exercise Coaching course aims to develop understanding of academic theory in alignment with significant practical experience (with the option to complete additional coaching awards and courses alongside your full-time course) and coaching opportunities.
Validated by Sheffield Hallam University, this is a sport and exercise coaching related course set in the context of the sports industry. It emphasises work-based learning and will, therefore, appeal to potential students who already have experience of work in a part-time or full-time capacity.
The course also helps to develop study skills, knowledge, professional practice and specific industry skills gained through work based learning and voluntary opportunities to improve employability and awareness of the industry.
Your primary location of study will be Hillsborough campus.
The course is full-time over two years. For each module students can expect to receive approximately 120 hours of tutor led/tutor directed learning in class, typically over 3 – 4 days per week. In addition students will be expected to spend around 80 hours per module on self-directed study. The course structure and design will ensure that students receive a minimum of 3 hours of feedback.
Applicants who are studying for SHU-validated foundation degrees will receive an offer for their designated full time honours degree progression route at Sheffield Hallam University provided that they submit an application via UCAS by the deadline. Applicants who are studying for SHU-validated foundation degrees and who wish to progress to part-time study on their designated honours degree progression route will apply directly to the University.
The offer of a place on the BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching degree made by the University will be subject to: Successful completion of the foundation degree programme and a minimum average grade of 55% at Level 5 Submission of a satisfactory personal statement and reference Meeting the University's literacy and numeracy requirements Satisfying any additional specific course requirements for entry to the designated progression route (eg., successful completion of associated bridging studies, portfolio, interview or any non-academic conditions) Offers are made subject to the availability of courses and the University Terms and Conditions.
