A minimum of two completed A-levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, BTEC Diploma or equivalent. Alternative entry on this course is available through the Design Foundation Year. We welcome applications from students currently studying a Foundation Degree, DipHE, HNC, HND or modules of an undergraduate degree course at another university, who wish to enter directly into Years 2 or 3 of one of our undergraduate degree courses. Applicants who are not in possession of the minimum entry requirements but are able to demonstrate aptitude, enthusiasm and motivation will be considered on an individual basis and may be admitted subject to satisfactory interview and/or portfolio. Media and communication studies

Combine your passion for writing and image making with your love of fashion and be part of the next generation of fashion communicators with Solent’s BA (Hons) Fashion Media degree. Developed in conjunction with industry experts and specifically designed to address the diversity of the fashion communications industry, you’ll gain a strategic insight into the exciting, fast-paced world of fashion communications.

Fashion is as much about words, pictures and stories as it is about garments, products and accessories. The fashion communications industry is looking for dynamic, multi-skilled practitioners who can write, film and shoot whilst having a keen eye on the commercial output of their content and how to maximise engagement.

On this course, students will learn how to identify trends and analyse markets, how to write, shoot and design for the fashion communications industry, as well as how to engage audiences and translate a passion for fashion and lifestyle content to a global multimedia stage. Students are also encouraged to work collaboratively with peers and industry experts to develop team-working skills and build an invaluable network for future careers.

To complement their studies and to aid employability, students are expected to complete 100 hours’ work experience to help develop a dynamic portfolio, a global awareness of their skills and how to use them to best effect, and a working knowledge of the industry.
