About this Course:

The BA (Hons) Degree in Education and Professional Development is designed to meet the professional development needs of teachers, trainers and managers in further, higher, adult, secondary and primary education. This course is also applicable to those who work in related areas such as health, careers and uniformed services. It is intended to meet the needs of those wishing to broaden their knowledge and understanding of education and training policy, theory and practice.

The degree is particularly suitable for those wishing to progress from a Certificate in Education, Diploma in Education & Training and those who are taking on extra responsibility or seeking career development.

This is a two-year, blended learning topup programme validated by the University of Hull, involving attendance at several day schools with an expectation of independent study and support by individual tutorials with the module tutor. In addition to this, you will be supported in your studies with academic support from our libraries. ]

University Centre Rotherham has an experienced teaching team who have a good reputation for ensuring you receive a quality teaching and learning experience. Not only will you be supported in your studies by the teaching team, you will receive help from our learning centre staff in relation to academic and research skills, as well as having access to modern teaching rooms with current software and a range of ICT resources.

Year 2

  • Dissertation

  • Professional Reflective Review

Progression:

  • Upon successful completion of this course you could go into employment as a programme leader, curriculum leader, curriculum manager or as a teaching and learning development officer.

Entry Requirements:

  • Preferably, candidates should have a certificate in Education or Diploma in Education and Training, or a Foundation Degree in a relevant subject area.

  • Two years full-time teaching/training experience, or part time equivalent

  • There is potential for students with five years teaching/training experience who have not completed a Certificate in Education or equivalent to be considered
