This course is designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of engineering technologies used by businesses nationally and globally. By studying the theory behind these technologies, you will develop the knowledge of how mechanical engineering systems feature in everyday life. The courses also provide advanced technical knowledge through mechanical engineering principles, concepts and theory.
You will study higher-level technical vocational mechanical engineering skills to prepare you for a range of related occupations. The HNC course is offered on a part-time basis over 3 semesters (18 months) and can be topped up to an HND qualification with further study. With industry-experienced tutors, the BTEC HNC and HND in Mechanical Engineering are designed to equip you with the skill set desired by employers within the mechanical engineering industry and provide you with new opportunities for career development.

64 UCAS tariff points (minimum) from AS, A Level or AVCE programmes which includes Mathematics and Physics, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate/Extended Diploma including at least merits in Mathematics and EEP, GNVQ Advanced, an Access qualification or other qualifications deemed equivalent to the above.
GCSE Maths and English is required at grade C/4 or above
Considerations will be given, under the discretion of the course leader, for applicants with appropriate work experience, e.g. Advanced Apprenticeships, through recognition of prior learning (RPEL) process.
