Entry requirements
A level
For First Year Entry a minimum of 3 A Levels at BBC, one of which must be Mathematics. For Second Year Entry a minimum of an A in the subject selected for Single Honours plus BB, or AB in the subjects selected for Joint Honours plus a further B. A Level Maths AND GCSE in English or English Language also required.
Foundation Apprenticeship (SCQF Level 6)
One FA is equivalent to a Higher at A. It cannot replace any required subjects.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
For entry into First Year, a minimum of 32 points required, including at least 5,5,5 at HL. For entry into Second Year, a minimum of 36 points, including at 6, 6, 6 at Higher level in subject(s) selected. Maths at Higher level AND English at a minimum of Standard level required.
Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)
A minimum of 5H with 3 at H2 AND 2 at H3 OR AAABB, obtained in a single sitting. (The grading within band B must be at B2 or above). Also required: Maths at Higher Level AND O in English or English Language.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
Minimum entry requirement: DDM in related subjects.
Scottish Advanced Higher
Second year entry may be possible in most school based subjects. A minimum of ABB overall in Adv Higher is required. Adv Higher at A in the subject selected for Single Honours or AB in the subject selected for Joint Honours.
Scottish Higher
Applicants who achieve BBBB (to include Higher Mathematics) or better are encouraged to apply and will be considered. Good performance in additional Highers / Advanced Highers may be required. Note: we do not double count a Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject, but we do consider that a B at Adv Higher is equivalent to an A grade at Higher. National 5 English at minimum grade C and Higher Mathematics at minimum grade B.

About this course
Business Management and Mathematics at Aberdeen is an excellent combination to develop the range of skills sought by employers, such as logical and analytical thinking, reasoning and argument. In Business Management you will gain a wide perspective and thorough grounding in all areas of business, including skills in accountancy and statistics. Your knowledge will be developed in the dynamic, international environment of our Business School where there are over 40 nationalities, small class sizes and teaching is delivered by leading figures in the fields of business practice and theory, corporate finance and organisational change. Your learning will be supported by dedicated careers advisers.
Aberdeen is highly rated for research in both pure and applied mathematics and how we use mathematics to shed light on ‘complex systems’, including in business. You will learn from teachers and researchers who are internationally recognised as leaders in pure mathematics, particularly in the fields of algebra, analysis, geometry, topology and its application to many areas of our lives.
Adding Mathematics to your degree extends your choice of challenging and rewarding careers. Employers are keen to recruit mathematicians because of their ability to think logically and analyse new developments whether in business, commerce or technology. This subject combination will make you a strong candidate not only in business generally, because of the transferable skills you will have gained, but specifically in the financial and actuarial sectors, computing, information technology, geophysics and data analysis.

Assessment methods
The use of various forms of assessment and learning environments facilitates the development of generic transferable skills enhancing student employability.
Students are assessed by any combination of three assessment methods: coursework such as essays and reports completed throughout the course; practical assessments of the skills and competencies they learn on the course; and written examinations at the end of each course. The exact mix of these methods differs between subject areas, years of study and individual courses.
Honours projects are typically assessed on the basis of a written dissertation.

Students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who pay tuition fees may be eligible for specific scholarships allowing them to receive additional funding. These are designed to provide assistance to help students support themselves during their time at Aberdeen.
International Students: The University of Aberdeen is delighted to offer self-funded international on-campus undergraduate students a £6,000 scholarship for every year of their programme. This scholarship is in the form of a tuition fee waiver. To be eligible students must be registering for a full-time, on-campus programme and cannot be in receipt of external scholarships or other University of Aberdeen scholarships, except for awards granted by the University of Aberdeen Development Trust. Please note that the scholarship does not apply to the DPLP or Medicine.

Want to feel needed? This is one of the most flexible degrees of all and with so much of modern work being based on data, there are options everywhere for maths graduates. With all that training in handling figures, it's hardly surprising that a lot of maths graduates go into well-paid jobs in the IT or finance industries, and last year, a maths graduate in London could expect a very respectable average starting salary of £27k. And we're always short of teachers in maths, so that is an excellent option for anyone wanting to help the next generation. And if you want a research job, you'll want a doctorate — and a really good maths doctorate will get you all sorts of interest from academia and finance — and might secure some of the highest salaries going for new leavers from university.
