The Cert HE in Musical Theatre Performance offered by the University of Bedfordshire at Emil Dale Study Centre is a one year Level 4 stand-alone course designed especially for those who need to develop all-round practical and related skills and understanding in order to audition for industry or progress onto degree programmes. Emil Dale Academy Study Centre is the only place of study wholly dedicated to Musical Theatre and all resident and guest teachers are or have recently been active in the industry, including West End performers and creative team such as Musical Directors, Directors and Choreographers. In addition, agents, casting directors and current performers in the industry contribute to sessions and workshops and agents are invited to performances which are a regular feature throughout the course. A well-equipped theatre and specialist studios and teaching facilities are used, and students are supported by a team of staff who offer academic and well-being support. Many former students are now working in the industry in West End and touring shows, as cruise ship entertainers, creative team members and in other performing environments, or have successfully progressed to a BA (Hons) Degree having received a strong grounding in academic as well as practical skills. The positive, professional environment and expert technique and industry-focused training creates all-round performers and creators that are highly prized and sought after by casting directors and agents, leading to a high level of success in the Musical Theatre industry.
