A Brighton Diagnostic Radiography degree prepares you for a rewarding career where you’ll play a key role in medical teams by taking imaging to help diagnose and monitor illness or injuries and ensure patients receive the right treatment.
This course is approved by the College of Radiographers and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), ensuring you will develop the technical skills and knowledge needed to meet statutory requirements.?Successful completion of the degree means you will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration and practice as a radiographer.

Throughout the course you’ll?develop core radiography?competencies – around 50% of your time will be spent on placement in a variety of diagnostic radiography settings in hospitals, the community and the private sector. Year 1 In the first year you’ll build a strong foundation in radiographic science, anatomy and patient care, while gaining hands-on experience through a supervised clinical placement. You’ll learn how to operate imaging equipment safely, understand the physics behind radiation and begin developing the professional and communication skills essential for delivering compassionate, high-quality diagnostic services.

Year 2 In your second year, you will deepen your understanding of imaging technologies, anatomy and pathology while exploring how research shapes clinical practice. Through extended clinical placements and advanced modules, you will gain hands-on experience with specialist imaging modalities like CT, MRI and ultrasound, and develop the confidence to care for a wider range of patients in more complex healthcare settings.

They have a big presence at the uni and i regularly use their facilities, which are a more affordable option.

Brighton has a great uni life and is full of day and night time activities for students. There is a big culture of community and many venues do regular student deals. The only downside is most of these activities cost money, so they are not that accessible to students who struggle for money.

The costs of accommodation are quite high - the closest and most affordable accommodation is just within price range, but a lot of the other accommodation is very fancy and new, thus it is very expensive. Rent in student homes is also very high in the city, and I have had to use financial support to...

The tutors are always available for academic support and the student support team have been getting more involved recently to alert the students of how they can access welfare services. I have personally used the welfare services to help me afford rent.

We donu2019t have the best or fanciest facilities, again the arts uni seems a bit under funded, but we do have everything that we need on site - an art shop, a cafe, a restaurant, and a library all within accessible distance.
