- Our Manufacturing Engineering degree is based on mechanical engineering fundamentals combined with specialist modules in Automated Production and Advanced Manufacturing.

- In addition to fundamental elements such as mechanics, materials, CAD/CAE/CAM and operations management, you’ll also develop skills in user needs and business plan development.

- You’ll develop project work which presents an opportunity to integrate learning across the course. The MEng includes a higher-level project that enables you to apply your knowledge at a professional level, and a group project where you’ll demonstrate your ability to thrive within a team environment – a crucial skill that is highly valued in industry.

Year 3 Compulsory Modules: Project, Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Design B, Operations Management B, Engineering Simulation, Automated Production B.

Year 4 Compulsory: Group Project, Project (C), The Engineer and Society, The Engineer and Society. Choose 3 of the following Year 4 Optional Modules: Additive Manufacturing Technologies, Build your own 3D Printer, Reverse Engineering, Advanced Computer Aided Engineering,Advanced Materials & Materials Selection.

Graduates are in significant demand, so unemployment rates are well below the national graduate average and starting salaries are well above average. Much the most common industries for these graduates are now vehicle manufacture - there are not enough people with these degrees to go round and so the big employers tend to take the lion's share at the moment. But pretty much anywhere there is manufacturing, there are production engineers. Bear in mind that a lot of courses are four years long, and lead to an MEng qualification — this is necessary if you want to become a Chartered Engineer.
