**Course overview**
- Our Foundation Entry course in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Modern Languages offers you a career-enhancing combination of English and a foreign language.
- Foundation Entry degree courses are ideal if you’ve got the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly join an honours programme. It’s a great stepping stone to a full degree.
- Our programme is suitable for beginners or for those with an A-Level in their chosen language. You'll gain classroom teaching experience and have the opportunity to achieve an academic and internationally recognised professional qualification.
- You’ll also learn cultural awareness and gain confidence in organisational, analytical and people skills. We’ll strengthen your existing knowledge of grammar and expression.

This is a broad subject for a variety of European languages. No matter which you take, the general theme is that some graduates go to that country to work, often as English language teachers, some go into further study, often to train as teachers or translators, but most get jobs in the UK in education - most often as language tutors, unsurprisingly, or translators. Modern language grads can also be in demand in business roles where communication and language skills are particularly useful, such as marketing and PR, and in finance or law. But remember — whilst employers say they rate graduates who have graduates who have more than one language, you need to have them as part of a whole package of good skills.

Top job areas of graduates
The stats above mainly cover teaching degrees for training and qualifying in primary school education. These tend to be three or four-year courses — check with course tutors about how long you will need to study to get your Qualified Teacher Status. Most graduates go into teaching roles — usually primary school teaching, so these courses have good employment rates and starting salaries.
