Marketing

**BA (Hons) Marketing**

**A marketing degree with professional accreditation and the chance to choose a specialist pathway in year two, so you can develop key skills for your future career.**

**Why choose this course?**
This degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and our Marketing courses are ranked 3rd in the Guardian University Guide 2023. You’ll spend the first year covering all aspects of marketing to find out where your passions and talents lie. Then from year two, you can continue on a general Marketing pathway with plenty of optional modules, or transfer to our courses in Digital Marketing or Marketing, PR and Advertising.

**How you will learn**
Our teaching methods will be varied, interactive and engaging. You’ll take part in lectures and seminars, individual and group-based practical assignments, visits to trade fairs, exhibitions and companies, with the opportunity to go on a placement or internship.

**Opportunities and experiences**
We’ll take you beyond the classroom, giving you opportunities to tackle real marketing projects for employers and undertake placements, internships, or even a semester of studying abroad. You’ll also hear from interesting guest speakers and we’ll draw on fascinating real world case studies to bring marketing concepts and principles to life.

**Work placements and internships**
We'll encourage and support you to take work placements and internships. In between your second and third year, you can take an optional placement year or a summer internship. This is a valuable opportunity to gain experience and develop your practical skills, network and build your professional profile.

**Careers and employability**
Marketing is now such a broad industry with a wide range of specialist roles, so these pathways enable you to build more in-depth skills in the particular area that interests you. Whichever pathway you choose, you will still gain a solid grounding in all of the key marketing disciplines, so you won't be closing any doors.

Want to join a fast-moving, diverse industry that's at the cutting edge of tech? Try marketing! A lot of the jobs are in London, but graduates don't just go to work in advertising agencies — all sorts of industries do their own marketing these days, and with the rise of digital and mobile technology, a lot of marketing is done in quite innovative ways using a wide range of methods. Common industries (apart from advertising and PR) include recruitment, online retail, higher education, banking and IT. A lot of jobs in this industry are handled through recruitment agencies, so if you get in touch with them early, that might give you a headstart for some of the jobs available. But be careful — unpaid working is not the norm in the marketing industry, but it is more common than in most sectors.
