Overview
The biggest challenges facing society today are global, interconnected, and political. Can we balance economic growth with environmental responsibility? Why are more countries engaged in violent conflict than at any time since World War II? Do tech giants hold too much influence over government policy? And what power do state and non-state actors truly wield?
On our BA in Global Development with Politics with a Placement Year, you'll learn the fundamentals of political analysis and apply them to the most pressing questions of our time. You'll develop a critical understanding of how and why global challenges—such as climate change, political instability, inequality, pandemics, war, and humanitarian crises—impact different regions and social groups in varied ways. Most importantly, you'll explore where to find transformative solutions.
You’ll have the flexibility to combine our specialist politics modules with options from geography, economics, anthropology, media, and environmental studies, alongside core global development modules. You’ll be able to hone your knowledge of critical world regions such as Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, or South Asia. You’ll also gain invaluable real-world experience with a year-long work placement. In previous years, students have done placements in South Africa, Uganda, Jordan, Malaysia, and the UK.
By studying with us, you’ll join our close-knit academic community, made up of experts from across multiple disciplines, all housed within the School of Global Development. Collectively our research on Global Development is ranked 1st in the UK (REF 2021).
After graduation, you'll be well equipped for a rewarding career in development, and beyond. Our graduates go on to work in government departments, universities, think tanks, consultancy firms, as well as local and national charities.

Overall id say that the inversity is okay, the course is good however the lectuerers arent the best and often times lectures feel quite pointless. Things cost a lot here too, with the laundrette and shop being very overpriced making it hard to budget money easily. However, the camous looks quite nic...

Uni life is very fun. You get to spend time with your friends and they're always there so you don't get bored. Norwich is a very average city but again you get used to it and it's also very historic

The student union are there all the time and are very supportive. They practically run the university and make it seem amazing. They run events almost every day and week and make the uni thrive.

Accommodation is definitely good and like a hotel. The library is open 24/7 and the campus kitchen has very good food. My room is amazing I opted for en suite room which is better than others. We share a kitchen which is ok as it can get dirty quickly. But other than that all is good
