Overview

Bring countries and cultures together as you perfect two languages (choosing from French, Spanish and Japanese) while developing professional expertise in translation and interpreting.

You’ll study two languages (French, Spanish, or Japanese) to degree level, and hone your ability to communicate confidently in your chosen languages. You’ll be able to choose from an exciting range of modules in translation, interpreting, culture, communication, subtitling and dubbing. You’ll also be introduced to a range of specialist translation skills and learn how translation is practiced in different contexts. You’ll benefit from practical experience in interpreting, in both public service and conference modes, which will give you more insights into the professional world.

Our language lab provides access to cutting-edge translation technologies and our new interpreting booths. We also offer a huge range of activities for you to get involved in! Recent examples include our Love Languages Day, Japanese cultural events and Creative Translation for Schools project.

In your third year, you'll enhance your experience of the language and culture by living in countries where your degree languages are spoken. You can study at university (all languages) or work on a teaching assistantship or placement (French and Spanish only). We have partnerships all over the world, including in France, Spain and Japan, as well as in Canada and Latin America.

Overall id say that the inversity is okay, the course is good however the lectuerers arent the best and often times lectures feel quite pointless. Things cost a lot here too, with the laundrette and shop being very overpriced making it hard to budget money easily. However, the camous looks quite nic...

The student union are there all the time and are very supportive. They practically run the university and make it seem amazing. They run events almost every day and week and make the uni thrive.

Accommodation is definitely good and like a hotel. The library is open 24/7 and the campus kitchen has very good food. My room is amazing I opted for en suite room which is better than others. We share a kitchen which is ok as it can get dirty quickly. But other than that all is good

My course is pretty relaxing at the moment as it contains a foundation year. Itu2019s pretty easy as it sets you into the basics of computer science. The lectures are easy to understand and follow the workload is manageable and you get support where itu2019s needed

My university was very welcoming and my lecturers were very supportive. I am part of 3 societies. Islamic, badminton and Malayali Society. Iu2019ve really enjoyed going to university in Norwich and getting used to living here has been a challenge but interesting.
