What this course is about

UCAS code: W321

Here's what University of East London says about its Music Technology and Production (IMW) course.

The principal focus of the DipHE in Music Technology and Production will be Music Production and Studio Production, with some elements of Sound Design and non-linear performance and production processes shared with other programmes in the suite.

The sound and music industry is transforming. Traditional careers are adapting to include creative industries that require skills in sound and music production. The broadcast, film, theatre, games and immersive experience industries are growing and thriving.

We see opportunities for multi-skilled, digitally fluent, dynamic and adaptable sound and music creators, who can initiate and present innovative ideas in modern and engaging ways.

You will develop and apply a range of specialist technical and creative skills in sound and music production, working collaboratively within interdisciplinary projects modelled on professional practice in the music industry.

WHAT MAKES THIS COURSE DIFFERENT

Location: IMW Campus is situated in Central London in the heart of the thriving music scene that attracts the best emerging, new and established musical talent from the UK and globally.

Professional Studios and Equipment: You'll learn, compose and produce in our purpose designed industry standard studio facilities designed and built by world renowned Munro Associates and equipped with an SSL Duality SE, SSL AWS 948 and a suite of your individual SSL Nucleus workstations.

Hands-on approach: Our focus is on project-led teaching that reflects industry-led briefs, so you'll learn as you create.

YOUR FUTURE CAREER

Sound and Music programmes at IMW in Partnership with UEL develop an existing base of core skills in sound and music creation and production and apply these to specific industrial contexts in collaborative projects that simulate professional practice, and which integrate with the Music industry in live projects.

The DipHE Music Technology and Production programme will develop a core set of skills in Music Production and Studio Production, with some elements of Sound Design and non-linear performance and production processes shared with other programmes in the suite and will also develop transferable skills for the creative industries.

Students will be able to collaborate and participate in a range of projects, resulting in a portfolio of project work that represents a broad range of skills and experience, with depth of both disciplinary and interdisciplinary skills.

This approach anticipates a diverse world of work, building skills in learners to create coherence and impact that is transferable across multiple contexts.

On successful completion of the DipHE programme, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the third and final year of a BA (Hons) Degree in collaboration with our Partner, the University of East London (UEL) ?
