Excluding General Studies. Grade B in Geology OR Grade B in two other Science subjects required.

24 L3 credits at Distinction grade and 21 L3 credits at Merit Grade. This must include 12 L3 credits in an acceptable Geology subject or 24 L3 credits at Merit Grade or above in another two Science Subjects (please contact us for further guidance on our equivalencies and specific module requirements). Geology

- An advanced course designed to prepare you to tackle important environmental and infrastructure challenges from an engineering perspective, including safe supply of critical raw materials and resources.

- MSci Engineering Geology and Geotechnics focuses on understanding the Earth, its processes and resources in order to design safe and sustainable ground engineering for environmental infrastructure

- Gain technical experience through over 70 days of fieldwork as well as laboratory classes, optional industry placement and independent research possibilities

- Study in Cornwall with access to incredible and unique local geology on your doorstep

- Taught at Exeter’s Penryn campus by Camborne School of Mines, a combined geoscience and mining department with an international reputation for research-inspired teaching and excellent graduate prospects

The market for geologists is has been quite linked to the oil industry for some time now, and the drop in the price of oil has meant the industry has stopped recruiting as many people for the time being. Geologists are still in demand, though, so the main effect has been to reduce the opportunities - and salaries - for geologists working abroad. At home, the oil industry remains a big employer, and so are the mining, civil engineering, construction and consultancy industries, with geology graduates working as geologists, geophysicists, civil engineers and environmental professionals.
