Must include at least one Arts/Humanities subject.

Acceptable in appropriate subject area. Must pass at least two thirds of modules at merit grade.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

3 HL subjects at 6,6,6 (38P) / 6,5,5 (32P) including English AND a Humanities/Language subject. Whilst HL6 is preferred for English and Humanities/Language subjects, SL6 will be considered for ONE of the subjects.

You will benefit from our collaborative ties with local industry and commerce which make significant contributions to the degree programme. Theory and practice is taught through a variety of innovative learning methods and opportunities.
**SOCIAL & PUBLIC POLICY**: - Social & Public Policy focuses on social problems such as poverty, homelessness and ill-health. The programme applies ideas from political science, sociology and economics to explore how governments shape their responses, and to understand the impacts of public policy on society. You’ll have the valuable opportunity of a work placement with a voluntary or public sector organisation.

Just over 1,600 students graduated in social policy in 2015, which makes it one of the smaller social studies subjects. This is a popular subject at Masters level — 750 Masters in social policy were awarded last year - and so a lot of the more sought-after jobs in management and research tend to go to social policy graduates with postgraduate degrees. For those who leave university after their first degree, then jobs in social care (especially community and youth work) and education, the police, marketing and human resources and recruitment are popular — along with local government, although there are fewer of those jobs around than in the past. This degree is a bit less reliant on London for jobs than other similar subjects, so if you'd like to work outside the capital, it might be worth considering - although the jobs still tend to be in big cities.
