**Our extended chemistry degree explores all branches of this essential science. It includes a foundation year so you can access the course with fewer entry points.**

Chemistry is the essential science. It impacts everything in our lives, from the perfect cup of tea to powering space-shuttles. Our extended chemistry degree looks at all branches of the discipline, including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry. You'll also develop the transferable skills that will appeal to a broad range of employers.

This extended degree starts with a foundation year before you progress to the standard three-year course. It is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, which means first-year students get free membership and graduates can apply for associate membership. You'll also benefit from our connections with industry, including regular guest speakers.

Our extended degree in chemistry gives you the knowledge and skills for exciting careers inside and outside the laboratory. Our graduates work as Laboratory Managers, Technologists, Technicians, Analysts, Project Managers and Scientific Officers in a range of well-known organisations including E.On, Dyson, GSK, and the NHS. We have a 100% overall student satisfaction rating for Chemistry (NSS 2019), making us the best in London for your needs.

- This four-year course has a foundation year and lower entry requirements. If you have the ability but not the qualifications, this course is your first step to graduation.

Chemistry graduates are in demand from a wide range of industries, from the food, oil, chemicals and pharmaceuticals to consultancy, technical analysis and teaching. They're also prized by business and finance employers for their research and data handling skills — anywhere there is research and data to be explained, you can find chemistry grads. If you want a career in research, you need a doctorate, so start planning now if you fancy one of these exciting and challenging jobs - but good students can usually get grants to take a doctorate, so don't worry about the financing if you think you have what it takes.
