**If your goal’s improving sporting performance, join our extended sports science with coaching degree. Entry points are lower than for our standard BSc and an extra year will boost your study skills.**

This course is aimed at anyone interested in science, sports coaching and the combination of the two. It will give you the knowledge and technical skills needed to evaluate and improve sporting performance, both on the field and in the lab.

The extended degree in sports science with coaching starts with a foundation year to equip you for learning at degree level. After this, you'll study the same modules offered on our three-year course.

You will have the chance to put your skills into practice through a structured internship in either coaching or sports science at Charlton Athletic Football Club.

**What you should know about this course:**
- This four-year degree is identical to the three-year course but has a foundation year with lower entry requirements.

- If you have the ability but not the qualifications, this course is your first step to graduation.

- The foundation year includes academic writing, computing skills, introduction to the subject and more.

One of the fastest growing subjects in the country, the number of sports science graduates went from under 3,000 in 2003 to over 10,000 in 2013. Numbers have fallen slightly since 2015, but we still have over 9,000 graduates in the subject. However, the good news is the country's appetite for good health and fitness - and the adaptability of graduates in the subject - means that sports science grads are less likely than average to be out of work. Sports science graduates, not surprisingly, tend to get jobs in sport, fitness and health - coaching and teaching especially - but they're found all over the economy. Management and business are also popular options for graduates from this subject — and sports science graduates are particularly found where drive, determination and physical fitness are an advantage.
