What this course is about

UCAS code: LV21

Here's what University of Hull says about its History and Politics course.

Influence the present through a deeper understanding of the past with a degree that combines the natural subjects of history and politics.

Be inspired by Hull’s rich political history and learn from expert academics, exploring the progress made by people, events and the government. Learning is not confined to the classroom in this course – you could get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness current politics first-hand on a three-month internship at Westminster.

You could also study abroad for a semester at any of our partner institutions, exploring how history and politics continue to shape our wider world.

Why study at Hull?

  • Westminster placement: Get a once-in-a-lifetime look behind the scenes interning for a Westminster MP on our parliamentary scheme, which has been running for 35 years.

  • A city steeped in history: Explore the Hull History Centre, the Blaydes Maritime Centre, and the world-renowned Wilberforce Institute. And access over a million books, journals and periodicals at our Brynmor Jones Library.

  • Study abroad: Put the theory into practice while enhancing your chances of getting a job by studying abroad for a trimester at any of our partner institutions.

Where could this take me?

You’ll graduate with practical experience of complex data analysis, negotiation, communication, teamworking and time management: all in-demand skills with potential employers.

There are a wide range of roles available to you as a History and Politics graduate, such as political researcher, historian, museum conservator, researcher, or teacher. Hull graduates also work in journalism, the Civil Service, marketing, and law.
