Here's what University of Hull says about its Nursing (Child) course.

It's hard to imagine a more fulfilling career than nursing. And if you want to make a real, positive difference to the lives of children and young people, studying child nursing is the gateway to a life’s work as a paediatric nurse. You’ll be taught the theory by our knowledgeable mentors. And you’ll gain valuable practical skills in this most rewarding of vocations in our award-winning medical campus, with its wealth of simulated, state-of-the-art wards and operating theatre. You’ll also boost your confidence and experience with a variety of placements in the community, supported by healthcare professionals.

Why study at Hull?

Hands-on learning: 50% of your time will be in clinical placement, working with real patients and their families. You’ll be supported by expert staff across a wide variety of specialisms. • Modern facilities: Our state-of-the-art health campus gives you the opportunity to experience real-world situations in our simulated wards, including intensive care and our neo-natal ward. • Get £5,000 cash a year: Without having to pay it back. You’ll be entitled to apply for the NHS Learning Support Fund. It’s on top of any other financial support you might get from a Student Loan.

Where could this take me?

The overwhelming majority of our students have careers as paediatric nurses. Our child nursing degree has a fantastic 100% employability rate - all our graduates are in work or study 15 months after they graduate.

Most work within the NHS, in a wide variety of paediatric settings, from hospital wards such as intensive care or oncology to outpatients, in mental health or education, or as health visitors. Some go on to research, to train others, or to private practice.

University of Hull open days

Are you thinking of applying to this university?

Before you do, it's a good idea to go to an open day. You can have a good look around campus, getting a better idea of what it's like to study there. You'll meet current students and staff and get the chance to ask them questions.

Universities will list upcoming open days on their websites. Most will also have virtual open days; these are a great alternative if you really can't get there in person. For tips on preparing for open days, check the advice section here on The Uni Guide.
