Operating department practice

**Operating department practitioners (ODPs) are vital members of the surgical team who provide high quality care to patients during anaesthesia, surgery and recovery. Study in our award-winning Allam Medical Building and gain practical experience on clinical placements.**

Designed in collaboration with local NHS trusts and private healthcare providers, this course has a strong clinical focus in order to meet the growing demand for Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) both locally and nationally.

- Learn in the superb new facilities of the Allam Medical Building with its simulated operating theatre, critical care unit and hospital wards

- 100% of our graduates are in work or further study within six months (UK domicile full-time first degree leavers; Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey for the academic year 2016/17, published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency 2018)

- Spend 60% of your time caring for patients on clinical placements in regional hospitals and 40% studying on campus

- This course is approved by the College of Operating Department Practitioners and the Health and Care Professions Council. Graduates can apply to become registered ODPs

Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a variety of surgical theatre specialities. You’ll gain high quality clinical skills in anaesthetic, surgical, and post-operative/anaesthetic care.
