From local councils to global charities, how organisations are managed impacts more than just their staff. You will discover how different management approaches affect the world around us, and learn about the latest ideas and new techniques.

At Leicester School of Business, our management courses have a distinctive emphasis on the social and ethical responsibilities of managers. Our degrees provide opportunities for professional development and will give you the skills to overcome contemporary managerial challenges with innovative and critically-informed decision-making.
We are known for the 'Leicester Model' of management studies – an approach that challenges the status quo and seeks to give voice to those individuals, groups and societies who are traditionally overlooked in global management and organisational processes. With our distinctive approach to the study of management, you can be certain that we will provide you with a wealth of exciting learning experiences.

Our Business and Management BA offers you a programme of learning which will expose you to the realities of management and the managerial experience in both the public and private sectors. The course covers the relevance of both management theory and practice for the solution of problems in international, national and local contexts. You will explore situations in which management has failed and in which management failures have actually contributed to social, economic, political or environmental problems. You will be inspired to question the ethical and social responsibilities of the organisations that affect all our lives whether as customers, employees or citizens.

All of our management degrees are dual accredited with ILM, the UK's leading Leadership and Management Awarding Organisation. This means you can gain ILM's Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management subject to passing the relevant modules.

The first year of this degree is shared with the following degrees:
Human Resource Management BA
Marketing BA

This means that you will have the option to switch to any of our management BA degrees at the end of your first year.

Our courses will provide you with an in-depth understanding of contemporary management techniques, and will allow you to develop the skills to become an effective and socially responsible manager in local and global arenas, whether in public, private or third sector organisations and enterprises.

Modules

Your first year is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in the study of managerial practices and their related functions, such as human resource management and marketing, as well as an appreciation of the broader context in which these activities take place in society.

Your second year will provide you with advanced learning in the operational and behavioural dimensions of managing organisations. You will also have the opportunity to engage in applied study through a live consultancy challenge.

In your final year, there are two compulsory modules focusing on international and ethical perspectives. You will also undertake a dissertation, a piece of independent research supported by one-on-one supervisions with an academic member of staff. You will also choose from a range of option modules, giving you the chance to shape your degree around your interests.
