**Top 5 For General Nursing** The University of Northampton is a top 5 institution for general Nursing in the Best UK University Guardian League table for 2025.
Our three-year Adult Nursing course will give you the ability to cope with a demanding and satisfying profession, leading to a **BSc Adult Nursing (Hons)** and **registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC**). The structure provides a strong foundation in adult nursing with skills based upon the theory taught at the University and clinical placements. You will be introduced to a range of care settings to familiarise you with emerging patterns of care and allow you to choose a specialist area. You will also gain Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) within this programme.
**The NHS Learning Support Fund**
Students, studying nursing, midwifery and many of the allied health professions courses from September 2020, may be eligible for a payment of at least £5,000 a year which they will not need to pay back. They may be able to apply for Financial support at the university through the NHS Learning Support Fund (NHS LSF) which offers eligible students additional support while studying for their degree. This is in addition to the Student Loan from the Student Loans Company*.

* Students must take all modules. Students who do not complete the Honours Degree will be eligible for an Ordinary Degree upon successful completion of a minimum of 60 Level 6 credits. These can be from any Level 6 modules, whether identified as compulsory or designated. The name of the Ordinary Degree will differ from that of the Honours Degree due to professional body requirements. Details can be found in the relevant Supplementary Regulations.

Assessment methods
All assessment is marked in accordance with the University’s regulations. There are a variety of assessments throughout the study, for example the students have simulations to work through, reflective accounts to write, essays, presentations, drug calculations exam and more. The students are also assessed in practice on the skills they are learning.

Our external examiners are registered nurses who also hold recordable teaching qualifications approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
