About this course
**Top 19 For Student Satisfaction** for BSc Children and Young People’s Nursing in the Best UK University Guardian League table for 2025 and are joined a **Top 10 ranked for Midwifery & Nursing** courses in the Daily Mail University League table for 2025.
Our three-year undergraduate course will give you the ability to cope with a demanding and satisfying profession, leading to **BSc (Hons) in Children and Young People’s Nursing qualification** and a **registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)**.
You will have an opportunity to undertake **the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)** programme during your study. The MHFA aims to support you in managing young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, providing a holistic approach to nursing.
There are many avenues you can chose once you are qualified and registered as a children and young people’s nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register. You can choose to work in acute settings such as: a children’s ward, children’s emergency department, theatres, neonates. Alternatively, you may choose to work in the community as: a health visitor, school nurse, community children’s nurse, within a special educational needs school.
**The NHS Learning Support Fund**
Students, studying nursing, midwifery and many of the allied health professions courses from September 2020, may be eligible for a payment of at least £5,000 a year which they will not need to pay back. They may be able to apply for Financial support at the university through the NHS Learning Support Fund (NHS LSF) which offers eligible students additional support while studying for their degree. This is in addition to the Student Loan from the Student Loans Company*.

The name of the Ordinary Degree will differ from that of the Honours Degree due to professional body requirements. Details can be found in the relevant Supplementary Regulations.

Assessment methods
Throughout your three years you will undertake written assignments varying in length and level on a variety of topics culminating with your dissertation in your final year.
You will be continuously assessed throughout this course to test your knowledge. Placements will also be assessed to ensure that you can effectively apply theory into practice within a healthcare environment.
