Civil engineering combines your creativity with technological and scientific knowledge that can change the world. You will learn how to design and manage high-profile projects. Working together in teams you'll learn about:

  • structures

  • geotechnics

  • materials

  • hydraulics and fluid mechanics

  • highway and transport engineering

  • surveying

  • construction management

Also as part of your course you will take part in site visits to see civil engineering in action. You will access research and laboratory facilities, including:

  • preparation and testing facilities for structures, geotechnics and materials

  • fluid mechanics teaching laboratory

  • state-of-the-art surveying equipment

  • design studios

  • CAD/BIM

The Civil Engineering MEng programme is the preferred route to achieving Chartered Engineer status. Our courses give you the required engineering expertise for either a career in industry or in many other professions that value an analytical, creative mind.
