**About this course:**
Are you passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of others and want to learn to provide outstanding care within mental health services? You will be part of a unique and exciting programme, learning in brand new teaching facilities and in a wide range of clinical placements. Working alongside expert clinical and academic staff, you will have the opportunity to help shape your learning experience. Topics include:
- Applied Human Biology for Nursing
- Introduction to Public Health and Health Promotion
- Developing Professional Relationships in Nursing
- Pharmacology and Medicines Management
- Principles of Mental Health Care
- Complex and Critical Mental Health Care
**Skills:**
On this course, you will gain practical skills and experience through a range of clinical placements, such as:
- Community mental health teams
- Inpatient mental health services
- Primary care (general practice) and private
- And voluntary and independent services.
You will undertake placements focusing on physical care. You will be supported, supervised and assessed during placements by both clinical and academic staff.
You will also spend a significant amount of time learning in our state-of-the-art CSC. These facilities include realistic community and in-hospital settings. Here you will safely practice clinical skills with other students, service users, carers, role players and hi-tech patient simulators under the guidance of experienced clinical and academic staff.

Assessment methods
Your learning on the programme will be split between theory in the classroom and clinical practice in a range of placements and in the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC).
You will develop theoretical knowledge through a variety of ‘blended learning’ approaches including lectures, seminars, group work, guided independent study, online learning, reflective practice and through preparation for a variety of assessments. You will be taught by expert staff and learn alongside adult and mental health nursing students, and students from other health and care professions.

Nursing students are eligible to apply for a non-repayable amount of up to £11,000 per academic year with the NHS Learning Support Fund.
