Cambridge Pre-U's can be used in combination with other qualifications such as A Levels to achieve the equivalent of the typical offer, where D3 can be used in lieu of A Level grade A or grade M2 can be used in lieu of grade B. Explore and understand human disease at all levels, combining biochemistry, physiology, neuroscience, cell biology, genetics, and pharmacology.

Your four-year integrated Biomedical Sciences masters will allow you to delve into how this practice provides advances in vital areas and join a pioneering community who will share their expertise, allowing you to focus on aspects of physiology and/or biochemistry to research level.

Our biomedical science graduates are in demand in a variety of areas of employment in medicine and healthcare-related professions, or clinical or medical research. Southampton’s biomedical science researchers are making a significant impact on today’s society by investigating potential cures for Alzheimer’s, discovering the causes of cystic fibrosis and improving our understanding and treatment of cancer.

You will complete an extensive laboratory-based research project in the heart of our state-of-the-art Life Sciences building and research groups.

We will offer you an opportunity for a year in employment placement, for those who want to gain experience in an industrial setting.

Year 1: Chemistry of Life, Fundamentals of Biochemistry, Fundamentals of Cell Biology and Physiology, How to Think Like a Scientist, The Human Genome and Disease

Year 2: Cell Biology, Flow of Genetic Information,

Year 3: Biofilms and Microbial Communities, Cancer Chromosome Biology, Global Health, Plant Cell Biology, Evolution.

Year 4: Advanced Library Project 1, Advanced Research Project, Bioinformatics and Systems Biology, Current Research, Data Management and Generalised Linear Modelling for Biologists.
